The paper examines a series of maps of Chioggia and its surrounding territory, created by Cristoforo Sabbadino in the mid-16th century and preserved in the Archivio di Stato and the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice. Analyzing these maps is crucial for understanding the urban and morphological transformations of the city, which, situated in the southern part of the lagoon, was from the outset a key element in the military and environmental policies of the Serenissima
