    A través de las novelas escritas por autoras como la española Emilia Pardo Bazán, la británica George Eliot y la alemana Louise von François, se analiza el modo en que percibieron las relaciones sociales del mundo rural en el que ambientaron sus obras con una perspectiva de género y con un enfoque comparado. Escritas en la segunda mitad del XIX, estas novelas transitan desde los postulados formales del Romanticismo hacia una nueva forma de entender la escritura, la del Realismo, comprometida con la denuncia de las desigualdades y las miserias sociales; por ello convierten al lector en testigo del impacto subjetivo de las problemáticas que tensionaron a las sociedades agrarias, inmersas en un proceso de cambio no siempre benévolo, y de paso le permiten apreciar cómo estas mujeres desafiaron con su vida y sus novelas el discurso patriarcal hegemónico que trataba de reducirlas al ámbito de la domesticidad.

    Through the novels written by authors such as the Spanish Emilia Pardo Bazán, the British George Eliot and the German Louise von François, we analyse the way in which they perceived the social relations of the rural world in which they set their works from a gender perspective and with a comparative approach. Written in the second half of the 19th century, these novels move from the formal postulates of Romanticism towards a new way of understanding writing, that of Realism, committed to denouncing social inequalities and misery. As a result, they make the reader a witness to the subjective impact of the problems that stressed agrarian societies, immersed in a process of change that was not always benevolent, and at the same time allow the reader to appreciate how these women defied with their lives and their novels the hegemonic patriarchal discourse that tried to reduce them to the sphere of domesticity.
