Preschool education institutions and the education programmes have great importance for preparing children for the future. Today, there are many alternative preschool education programmes and approaches. Each of these programmes has a different education understanding, teacher training system, material development, and classroom management approaches. Some alternative types of preschool education are the Montessori education model (MEM), Waldorf, and religious schools, the first of which is currently experiencing a surge in popularity across many Western countries. Hence, the aim of this chapter is to highlight what scientific research says about the effects of the MEM on preschool children's motor, cognitive, social, and emotional competencies.
