While it has been a while since social sciences have accepted the interpretative paradigm, itsintroduction in the field of Social Psychology, particularly in Spain, is quite recent. Positivism - theobjective, verificationist and metnodological dogma - is censoring the adoption of epistemologies thatdo not share its self-claimed scientific criteria. The paper reflects on the reasons and consequences of maintaining the neo-positivist principles of ascience that, because of this principles, has lost its critical and transformative character. At the sametime, deepens in the understanding of the interpretative paradigm. Firstly, exposing the socioconstructionistperspective that emphasizes the intersubjective and cultural character of any knowledgeproduction. Secondly, exploring the post-constructionist perspective that endorse a materialistunderstanding of social reality.
