Social activism, feminism and spiritual search converge in the work of Eva Gore-Booth when writing about the female experience, questioning gender roles and traditional concepts of masculinity and femininity. In contrast to revisionist mythmaking within the Irish Revival, which is predominantly male and perpetuates gender asymmetries, women writers of this period will highlight the need for a female genealogy that serves as an identity reference for their female contemporaries. From this feminist perspective, Eva Gore-Booth reconstructs the Celtic imagery of her native Ireland, transforming and subverting patriarchal narratives to create her own corpus of female references.
