This study is an inter-institutional research with the participation of researchers from the Universidad de Cundinamarca and Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia. It sought to detect, analyze, and compare educational institutions of high and low efficiency, identifying in its results factors centered on equity-quality vs. good practices. The research was framed in a descriptive qualitative paradigm that considered a sample of public and private educational institutions in Cundinamarca’s department. This study was able to determine characteristics of educational practices in relation to aspects of innovation and training projects, treatment of diversity, curricular approach, evaluation processes, school climate, leadership, and management. The results show a strong tendency to implement isolated strategies or projects promoted by teachers, which recommend great challenges to achieve comprehensive and quality education. In terms of research opportunities, this allows visualizing educational quality as a field that requires constant improvement plans and recommends the development of new theoretical and practical studies that support the relationship between educational reality and the vision of educational quality.
