Resumen de Una experiencia de virtualización e internacionalización docente: El caso de los #USALUVALingSem

Francisco Javier Ruano García, Laura Filardo Llamas

  • This paper reports on the USAL-UVA Linguistics Research Seminars (#USALUVALingSem), an experience of teaching virtualization that has been developed during the past two academic years within the MA programme Estudios Ingleses Avanzados: Lenguas y Culturas en Contacto, which is jointly coordinated by the Spanish Universities of Salamanca and Valladolid. This is a complementary teaching activity that pursues three main goals: (1) to foster the students’ learning process and their achievement of competences by means of online seminars delivered by renowned teachers and researchers in different areas of linguistic knowledge;

    (2) to enhance collaborative work between the students and teachers involved in this MA programme; (3) to promote sustainable internationalization at home as a response to the changing circumstances of the higher education teaching practice. This experience has drawn upon a twofold methodological approach: on the one hand, a carefully-planned teaching programme that considers criteria relating to socio-demographic factors as well as to the fields of specialization in English linguistics research. On the other hand, a monitoring procedure based on satisfaction surveys. The results reveal the effectiveness of this experience both in quantitative and qualitative terms, which supports its positive impact on the students’ learning and performance.
