  • MS Diez. B Sant. 99 in the Berlin Staatsbibliothek contains Petrarch’s ‘Testamentum’ in the version that the last editor, Theodor E. Mommsen, calls ‘b’. The codex has so far received little attention. After outlining the ‘status quaestionis’ of the tradition of the Poet’s last will, this contribution dwells on the history of the Berlin manuscript. It has come down to us from the archives of some members of the Dondi family and should therefore be carefully but cautiously evaluated, as it relates to the question of the origin of the name ‘dall’Orologio’ added to that of the Dondi family.
