Testamentos, crónicas y el «Inventario Cabré»: reconstruyendo el palacio Cerralbo

    Cuando Juan Cabré (Calaceite, 1882-Madrid, 1947) inició su andadura como director del Museo Cerralbo hizo notar la ausencia de un inventario de las colecciones que el XVII marqués de Cerralbo había legado «a la nación española». Siguiendo las indicaciones del propio marqués en su testamento, Cabré comenzó a redactar un inventario de todos los enseres y obras de arte que ornaban el palacio de la calle Ventura Rodríguez ubicados en los Pisos Principal y Segundo. Posteriormente, en 1927 él mismo realizó el inventario de la marquesa de Villa-Huerta con todos los equipamientos del Piso Entresuelo, completando así prácticamente la totalidad de la vivienda. En la actualidad, el conocido como «Inventario Cabré», es una herramienta fundamental para el trabajo diario del museo y, desde 2022, es el eje de un proyecto de investigación interdisciplinar de todo el personal técnico completando así la información sobre la familia y el palacio.

    When Juan Cabré (Calaceite, 1882-Madrid, 1947) initiated his career as the director of Museo Cerralbo, he noted the lack of an inventory which cointained the collections that the 17th Marquis of Cerralbo had bequeathed to the Spanish nation. Following the instructions that the marquis himself reflected in his will, Cabré began to write an inventory of all the belongings that decorated the palace at Ventura Rodríguez street, located on the Main and Second Floors. Subsequently, in 1927, he drew up the inventory of the Marchioness of Villa-Huerta with all the equipment placed on the Mezzanine Floor. Today, the known as «Inventario Cabré», is fundamental tool for the museum’s daily work and, since 2022, the main point in an interdisciplinary research project that affects the entire technical staff, thus completing the information about the family and their palace.
