    The contribution aims to offer a commentary, from a comparative perspective, on some of the poems and lyrical prose dedicated by Niccolò Tommaseo to the theme of the sea. At times the seascape and the creatures that populate it are portrayed by the author, in verse or prose, with a realistic attitude and even with the aid of scientific evidence. More often, however, the world of the coasts and seabed, the colours and music of the waters appear tinged with mythical echoes and suggestions, as well as imbued with mystical-religious resonances : from a physical space or poetic-memorial dimension, the sea thus becomes an absolute space : ontological and religious.

    Il contributo si propone di offrire il commento, in ottica comparatistica, di alcune fra le poesie e le prose liriche dedicate da Niccolò Tommaseo al tema del mare. Talvolta il paesaggio marino e le creature che lo popolano vengono ritratti dall’autore, in versi o in prosa, con attitudine realistica e persino con l’ausilio di riscontri scientifici ; più spesso, però, il mondo delle coste e dei fondali, i colori e la musica delle acque appaiono sfumati di echi e suggestioni mitiche nonché intrisi di risonanze mistico-religiose : da spazio fisico o dimensione poetico-memoriale, il mare diviene dunque spazio assoluto : ontologico e religioso
