    Este estudio cualitativo tiene como objetivo analizar la manera en que hombres chilenos describen y valoran el rol del padre actual (Aguayo y Kimelman, 2021) durante en el puerperio, dado que en Chile existe una variedad de políticas públicas diseñadas para fomentar la participación masculina, las cuales no han tenido el impacto esperado. Por ello, es fundamental conocer la perspectiva paterna. De los resultados se destaca que el papel del padre en el puerperio implica la satisfacción de las necesidades económicas, afectivas y de crianza del infante. Además, se observa una tendencia hacia la equidad entre los cuidadores. En conclusión, a pesar de que los padres buscan asumir un rol activo en la crianza, estudios actuales demuestran que la principal responsable sigue siendo la madre. Esta discordancia entre las narrativas y las estadísticas de participación paterna resalta la importancia de realizar más estudios cualitativos que contribuyan a reducir esta brecha entre cuidadores.

    This qualitative study aims to analyze the way Chilean men describe and value the role of the current father (Aguayo and Kimelman, 2021) during the postpartum period, given that in Chile there is a variety of public policies designed to promote male participation, which have not had the expected impact. Therefore, it is essential to understand the paternal perspective. The results highlight that the father's role in the postpartum period involves meeting the economic, emotional, and caregiving needs of the infant. Furthermore, a trend towards equity among caregivers is observed. In conclusion, although fathers seek to take on an active role in caregiving, current studies show that the primary responsibility still lies with the mother. This discrepancy between the narratives and the statistics of paternal participation underscores the importance of conducting more qualitative studies that contribute to reducing this gap among caregivers.
