This study proposes a reflection on the need to understand journalism as a means of building intersubjective knowledge. Starting from the analysis of the investigative process of journalist Caco Barcellos in the book “Rota 66: The History of the Police that Kills”, we seek to think about Investigative Journalism beyond objective and superficial reports of accusations or legal transgressions, understanding it as a space for social formation, a means of promoting more critical citizenship and articulating the demands of civil society in the composition of the formal public agenda. In the epistemological discussion, the aim is to overcome concepts such as absolute truth, objectivity and scientific value, and to recognize the ideological implications always present in the attributions of meaning, both in science and in journalism.
