    Se han considerado diversos factores como causa de la inclusión inventerada del cordal mandibular. Para la mayor parte de los autores son interferencias espaciales el factor causal fundamental. Se presenta un estudio de los elementos anatómicos del enclave pericordal; los tres principales son: la inserción mandibular del ligamento ptérigomandibular, la cresta bucinatriz, en la que se insertan las fibras mandibulares del músculo bucinador y el llamado trígono retromolar.

    Se debate la implicación de estos factores anatómicos en la génesis de la reteción del tercer molar mandibular. El estudio está ilustrado con dibujos originales en escorzo.

    Several factors have been considered as cause of the inveterate inclusion of the third molar. The majority of authors believe spacial interferences are the fundamental cause. We present a study of the anatomical elements of the area surrounding the tird molar. The three basic elements are: the mandibular insertion of the pterigomandibular ligament, the mandibular insertions of the buccinator muscle and the so called retromolar triangle. In our study we debate the implication of these anatomic factors in the genesis of third molar mandibular inclusion. This study is ilustrated with original drawings
