  • Resumen
    • Recent developments in low background proportional counters and chambers used for low–level internal gas counting of beta– and X–ray emitters are reviewed. The influence of the counter geometry and the nature of the gas filling on counter characteristics is studied. Operational characteristics of multielement proportional chambers for 3H and 14C counting are described in detail. Proportional and drift chambers together with multichannel electronics operating on-line with a computer open up new possibilities in low-level gas counting71
