  • Resumen
    • A short review of the methods used to prepare alpha—particle sources from environmental samples precedes the description of methods for analyzing the spectra obtained from multi—channel measurements. Particular attention is devoted the curve fitting using convoluted mathematical functions. Practical examples are provided of spectra derived from important radionuclides in which the data analysis yields values for emission probabilities which may be compared with values given in the literature. Our computer programme has been designed to run on a standard IBM—type personal computer and is based on an iterative SIMPLEX approach.
