Resumen de A rocha 11 de Gardete (Vila Velha de Ródão) e os períodos terminais da arte rupestre do Vale do Tejo

Mario Varela Gomes

  • More than the two hundreds of recognized figures in the rock now studied make that it constitutes one of the most important surfaces for the study of the schematical art of the Tagus'Valley complex. There, schematic anthropomorphs had been identified, of different forms, sorne of them associated in pairs or to a circle (solar image), an isolated bucranium, serpentiforms, circles alone or in pairs (suggesting eyes), sets of concentrically circles, idoliforms and/or steliforms, podomorphs, cup-marks, etc., constituting, not rarelly, groups whose meant if it tries to argue. It was possible to attribute that iconographic quantity to the three main final periods of the chrono-stylistical evolution, proposed by us, for the artistic cycle of the Tagus' River, situated between the Late Neolithic and the Late Bronze Age or, exactly, the beginnings of the Iron Age (Southern, Atlantic, Circles and Lines periods), even so have, still, recognized some phases in the middle of those. Set of small parallel filiform traces, can make to retrace the iconography of this rock to the Upper Palaeolithic period or to a moment of transition for the Holocene times.
