Miquel Rovira Boixaderas, Josep Illa Antich, Ricard Tomás Puig, Vicens Martí Gregorio

  • Redaction of organic matter and nutrients in pre-drinking waters by floating bed of saprophytes. Experience in the lake of Agulla (Manresa, Spain) The water treatment company Aigües de Manresa has undertaken during the last years an ambitious innovation program with the goal to convert the artificial lake of Agulla that nourish the potabilization plant, to the primary water potabitiaztion step. The main action consists in the use of aquatic macrophytes, that possess an outstanding ability for assimilating nutrients and creating favorable conditions for microbial decomposition of organic matter. This methodology has been complemented with other synergic actions such as control of algae and animal colonies established in the lake, improvement of the reservoir hydraulic behaviour as welt as the set up of a bar screen.
