    This paper analyses the forms of collective solidarity in the medieval countryside of the Kingdom of Valencia. Poverty, as a structural and endemic phenomenon, could not be solved by these institutions such a brotherhoods, almshouses or hospitals, but without them hunger and the most basic needs would have devoured many peasants.

    Aquest article mira d’analitzar les formes de solidaritat col·lectiva en el camp medieval del País Valencia. La pobresa, com a fenomen estructural i endèmic, no podia ser solucionat per institucions com les confraries, les almoines o els hospitals, però sense elles la fam i les necessitats més bàsiques haurien devorat molts pagesos.
