    Medikamentuen erabilerak gizakietan eta animalietan gora egin du, eta arduratzekoa da farmakoek eragindako kutsadura (farmakokutsadura), bereziki hondakin-urak jasotzen dituzten sistema urtarretan. Medikuak giltzarri dira medikamentuen erabilerari dagokionez, eta informazio gutxi dago farmakokutsadurari buruz duten ezagutza, jarrera eta praktikari buruz. Espainiako Medikuen Elkargoan berriki egindako ikerketa honek ondorioztatu du medikuen artean gaiarekiko ezezagutza handia dela eta formakuntza areagotu behar dela.

    The use of medicines has increased in humans and animals and is responsible for drug contamination (pharmacopollution), especially in aquatic wastewater collection systems. Doctors are key in the use of medicines and there is little information about their knowledge, attitude and practice regarding pharmacopollution. This study, recently carried out by the College of Physicians of Spain, concludes that there is a great lack of knowledge on the subject among doctors and that training must be increased
