  • Resumen
    • The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, best known as the Monastery of Batalha, is one of the symbols of the Dynasty of Avis. This chapter presents a field campaign of daily vibration measurements of the traffic vibration induced at the monastery. The Monastery of Batalha is situated close to the IC2 road, which has high traffic intensity. In the monastery, it is clear that the vibrations measured at the base by the fixed seismograph are always higher than in other points. Accelerometers were used in the study to assess the behaviour of the vibrations along the courtyard between the road and the main facade of the Monastery of Batalha. Using the analysis of continuous measurements performed over several days at the base of the Combatant Museum and the Founder's Chapel, it is concluded that the maximum values of measured velocity do not exceed the values adopted by the German DIN 4150 and Italian UNI 9916 standards.
