This is an introduction to an ethnographic study on the town of Losar de la Vera, located in the north of the Spanish Province of Cáceres. The aim of it is to do a thorough research on the anthropological and diachronic elements that make up the material and symbolic culture of this town. In the first chapter we will focus on two fundamental variables: space (the natural evironment) and time (the historial and cultural evolution). Next we will analyze the popular architecture, the traditional forms of sustenance, the basic technology, the sources of energy, the life cycle and the belief systems in relation to the astronomical year (the magic and religious rites as a response to the requirements of global adaptation).
