Arte y comunicación alternativa: una apuesta por democratizar la opinión pública desde sectores juveniles marginados

    Resumen: El objetivo principal de este artículo es el de dimensionar los alcances de las prácticas artísticas juveniles en la democratización de la opinión pública en la ciudad de Medellín, para lograrlo, el trabajo elabora una reflexión teórica en la que se abordan importantes autores que han propiciado reflexiones en torno a la democracia, la comunicación, la ciudadanía y la formación de opinión pública; la construcción teórica es contrastada con el trabajo de campo realizado en el marco de la investigación “Jóvenes, participación política y formación democrática. Estudio comparativo Bogotá y Medellín” adelantada por el Instituto de Estudios Políticos de la Universidad de Antioquia y la Universidad Central de Bogotá.

    El trabajo de campo privilegió el enfoque cualitativo con herramientas de etnografía, observación participante y entrevistas semiestructuradas, buscando privilegiar la construcción conjunta de conocimientos entre los investigadores y los sujetos participantes de la misma, los enfoques metodológicos utilizados le permitieron a la investigación sobrepasar las dimensiones típicas de la opinión pública e indagar por los sentidos y sensaciones que le dan forma a las diferentes maneras de entender y dimensionar las opiniones de lo público desde los sectores marginados de la sociedad.

    Las principales conclusiones del artículo son: la visibilización de una estructura democrática mayoritaria que modela un tipo específico de participación política, que se basa en los valores cívicos de respeto por las elecciones y las instituciones legalmente constituidas que restringe la manifestación de inconformidades sociales y teje, por tanto, ciudadanías de primera y segunda categoría; y, en respuesta al cierre de estas estructuras democráticas, se verifica la existencia de expresiones culturales que por medio del arte tratande alterar las opiniones que se construyen sobre los asuntos públicos, buscando recalcar las exclusiones

    Abstract: The main objective of this article is to dimension the scope of youthful artistic practices in the democratization of public opinion in the city of Medellin. To achieve this the work draws up an important theoretical reflection in which important authors that have promoted reflections around democracy, communication, and citizenship and public opinion formation are addressed. The theoretical construction is contrasted with field work carried out within the framework of the investigation “Young people, political participation and democratic formation. A comparative study in Bogota and Medellin” developed by the Political Studies Institute of Universidad de Antioquia and Universidad Central of Bogota.

    The field work favored the qualitative focus with ethnography tools, participating observation and semi-structured interviews, aiming to favor the joint construction of knowledge between the researchers and the participating individuals. The metho dological focus used allowed the research to overcome the typical dimensions of public opinion and investigate the senses and sensations that shape the different ways of understanding and dimensioning the opinions of the public from the marginalized sectors of society.

    The main conclusions of the article are: the visibility of a majority democratic structure that models a specific type of political participation based on civic values of respect for elections and the legally constituted institutions that hinders the manifestation of social nonconformism and therefore waves first and second class citizenships and, in response to the closure of these democratic structures, the existence of cultural expressions which, through art seek to alter the views that are built on public issues is verified in order to emphasize the exclusions and unfair situations that are generated in the core of the majority of cultures and that pretend to be hidden by public opinion on them.
