O lugar social das mulheres em Aves sin nido

    Neste artigo, realizo uma análise crítica das personagens femininas e do lugar social que ocupam no romance Aves sin nido (1889), de Clorinda Matto de Turner. O objetivo foi mostrar como em sua primeira obra literária a autora construiu personagens femininas que, ainda que pareçam muito convencionais aos olhos da nossa sociedade no século XXI, permitem a discussão sobre o lugar, ou a falta dele, das mulheres na época em que ela escrevia. Parto do que Cornejo Polar ([1992] 2005) denomina “sistema narrativo” do romance, no qual sustenta que as personagens são representativas de três classes da sociedade peruana da época, mas chego a uma distinta conclusão em relação à proposta do crítico. Assim, além desse subsídio teórico, colaboram com a pesquisa outros nomes da fortuna crítica da autora: Ferreira (2005), Sales (2006) e Vargas Yábar (2013). Para o estudo sobre personagem de ficção, Candido ([1968] 1995), e sobre o romance costumbrista, Varela Jácome (2008) e Ayuso, García e Solano (1990). Concluo que algumas personagens femininas do romance escapam do proposto por Cornejo Polar, pois ensaiam pequenas mudanças, ou não possuem um lugar dentro da formulação do crítico. Entretanto, foram captadas pela autora no retrato que se propôs realizar da complexa sociedade peruana do século XIX.

    In this article, I make a critical analysis of the female characters and the social place they occupy in the novel Aves sin nido (1889), by Clorinda Matto de Turner. The objective was to show how, in her first literary work, the author constructed female characters who, although they seem very conventional of our society in the 21st century, allow the discussion about the place, or lack thereof, of the women in the time in which she he wrote. Cornejo Polar ([1992] 2005) studies what he called “narrative system” of the novel, in which he maintains that the characters are representative of three classes of Peruvian society of the time, but I come to a distinct conclusion regarding the critic's proposal. In addition to this theoretical subsidy, other authors of the author's critical fortune collaborate with the research: Ferreira (2005), Sales (2006) and Vargas Yábar (2013). For the study on fictional character, Candido ([1968] 1995), and on the novel costumbrista, Varela Jácome (2008) and Ayuso, García and Solano (1990). I conclude that some feminine characters of the novel escape the one proposed by Cornejo Polar, because they rehearse small changes, or they do not have a place within the formulation of the critic. However, they were captured by the author in the portrait she proposed to perform of the complex Peruvian society of the nineteenth century.
