La constante reflexión acerca del espacio atraviesa la vasta obra poética que AmandaBerenguer (Montevideo, 1921−2010) compuso a lo largo de más de sesenta años. En este trabajo proponemos una lectura de La botella verde (1995), un poemario de la uruguaya que abreva en las paradojas de la topología, rama de las matemáticas que estudialas transformaciones de los cuerpos geométricos.El «analysis situs» que despliega el texto de Berenguer tiene como punto de partida laobservación de una botella de Klein, en la que no es posible discernir un interior ni unexterior. La fascinación por este objeto extraño y hermafrodita, «superficie/ neta» (Berenguer:603), «discurso cristalino» (612), «forma solipsista pero enajenada» (639)desata en la hablante poética un cúmulo de asociaciones temáticas e intertextuales.Nuestro objetivo es rastrear algunas claves filosóficas y artísticas que convergen en laexploración poética del espacio, a través de la problematización de nociones como distancia, exterioridad, límite e infinito. Finalmente observaremos cómo, en un gesto típico de la escritura de Berenguer, la apropiación del imaginario científico y la libertad lúdica de los poemas posibilitan el análisis crítico del presente personal y social.

The constant reflection about space characterizes the poetic works written by AmandaBerenguer (Montevideo, 1921-2010) throughout more than sixty years. In this paper wepropose an interpretation of La botella verde (1995), a book that investigates theparadoxes of topology, the field in mathematics that studies the transformations ofgeometric bodies.The «analysis situs» presented by Berenguer’s text derives from the observation of aKlein bottle, in which it is not possible to separate the inside from the outside. Thefascination of this strange and hermaphrodite object, «pure / surface», «crystallinediscourse», «solipsist yet deranged shape», triggers a series of thematic andintertextual associations in the poetic speaker. Our aim is to trace some philosophic and aesthetic keys that converge in the poetic exploration of space, through the exam ofnotions such as distance, exteriority, limit and infinite. Finally we shall observe how, ina typical turn of Berenguer’s writing, the appropriation of the scientific imaginary andthe ludic freedom of the poems result in the critical analysis of the personal and socialreality.
