Brain development and plasticity are changes occurring in the nervous system in response to genetics and individual’s capacity to adapt to environment’s stimuli through the changes of the functional and structural organization. Pre-birth and post-birth periods are critical stages for the structural and functional development of the nervous system; therefore, any positive or negative event taking place during these stages may have a significant impact on the development of the brain. It is possible to observe the plasticity of the brain in the early stages of humans’ development. The objective of the review is to discuss the nervous system development during the embryonic stage in addition to the findings associated with vital stages in early pre-birth and post-birth development concerning the child’s brain plasticity.
