    Los seres míticos forman parte de la galería de personajes que el discurso escrito, oral e iconográfico incorpora y reactualiza constantemente. Tal es el caso de la sirena, que está fuertemente ligada a la representación y concepción de la mujer en los distintos contextos en quereaparece. Al igual que numerosos seres mitológicos, este ser no se ha mantenido invariablea través del tiempo: ha sido caracterizada como mujer pájaro, como mujer pez o serpiente. Sinembargo, en esta metamorfosis se observan motivos que van cobrando sentido de acuerdoal contexto en el que surgen. Este trabajo es una deriva de investigaciones previas en tornoa la aparición de la figura de la sirena en la literatura medieval hispana, no obstante en estaoportunidad se examinará la relación simbólica que se establece entre el cabello y la mujersirena. Se busca rastrear la presencia de estos motivos en la literatura medieval y armar uncorpus que dé cuenta de la relación manifestada y posibles abordajes para la interpretaciónque vincula al cuerpo femenino en este interesante trenzado simbólico entre la figura de lasirena como mujer-pez y la figura de la larga cabellera.

    Mythical beings are part of the gallery of characters that the written, oral and iconographicdiscourse constantly incorporates and reactivates. Such is the case of the mermaid, who isstrongly linked to the representation and conception of women in the different contextsin which she reappears. Like numerous mythological beings, this being has not remainedunchanged over time: she has been characterized as a bird woman, a fish woman or a serpent. However, in this metamorphosis we observe motifs that make sense according to the contextin which they arise. This work is a derivation of previous research on the appearance of thefigure of the mermaid in Hispanic medieval literature, however this time we will examine thesymbolic relationship established between the hair and the mermaid-woman. The aim is totrace the presence of these motifs in medieval literature and assemble a corpus that accountsfor the relationship manifested and possible approaches to the interpretation that links thefemale body in this interesting symbolic braiding between the figure of the mermaid as afish-woman and the figure of the long hair.
