La importancia de la formación temprana de niños y jóvenes lectores y el apoyo de las bibliotecas escolares, públicas y académicas

    La formación temprana de los niños y jóvenes en la lectura es vital.  Es importante que los niños y jóvenes reciban el apoyo de los hábitos lectores por parte de los cuidadores y de los bibliotecarios.  La biblioteca escolar, pública y académica son los espacios por excelencia en donde se puede afianzar la lectura de los seres humanos.  De la literatura revisada se desprende que esta habilidad es necesaria en los escenarios escolares y universitarios, además de que su desarrollo implica el que el ser humano pueda ser aprendiz de por vida.  Es mediante la destreza del hábito lector que el ser humano puede reconocer, interpretar y comprender lo leído.   En este escrito se presenta la importancia del desarrollo de hábitos lectores desde la escuela primaria y en el ámbito universitario.  Se reseñan algunos ejemplos de la cátedra UNESCO para la lectura en América Latina y otros de experiencias lectoras en universidades de otros países.  Se describen estrategias de enseñanza, la motivación y animación a la lectura.   Se muestran algunos ejemplos en la revisión de la literatura acerca de la lectura y los hábitos lectores en otros países.

    The early training of children and young people in reading is vital.  Therefore, it’s important that children and young people receive support for reading habits from caregivers and librarians.  The school, public and academic library are the spaces par excellence where the reading of human beings can be strengthened.  From the reviewed literature it can be deduced that this ability is necessary in school and university settings, in addition to the fact that its development implies that the human being can be a lifelong learner.  It is through the skill of the reading habit that the human being can recognize, interpret, and understand what is read.  This paper presents the importance of developing reading habits from elementary school and in the university environment. Some examples of the UNESCO chair for reading in Latin America and other reading experiences in universities in other countries are reviewed.  Teaching strategies, motivation, and encouragement to reading are described.  Some examples are shown in the review of the literature about reading and the habits of readers in other countries.
