Nostalgia migrante transnacional: memorias venezolanas en la ciudad de Lima

    Este artículo analiza, desde una aproximación etnográfica, las expresiones y el rol que cumple la nostalgia en la vida cotidiana de un conjunto de migrantes venezolanos dedicados al comercio ambulatorio en la ciudad de Lima. A partir del análisis de los recuerdos vinculados a tres grandes ámbitos – el paisaje y el ritmo de vida en el lugar de origen, los familiares que no migraron y el caminar libre de discriminación y acoso – se exploran los principales desafíos que enfrenta la población venezolana desde su llegada al Perú. Los hallazgos demuestran que la añoranza no refleja una visión abstracta e idealizada del pasado, más bien aparece como un aspecto que les permite lidiar críticamente con las difíciles condiciones socioeconómicas que enfrentan en la ciudad. La memoria transnacional se construye como un lugar colectivo de enunciación para imaginar un futuro donde sus condiciones de vida sean más justas e igualitarias.

    This article analyze, from an ethnographic approach, the expressions and the role that nostalgia plays in the daily life of a group of Venezuelan migrants dedicated to street trading in the city of Lima. Based on the analysis of memories linked to three major areas – the landscape and the pace of life in the place of origin, relatives who did not migrate, and walking without being discriminated against or harassed – the main challenges faced by the Venezuelan population since their arrival in Peru are explored. The findings show that nostalgia does not reflect an abstract and idealized vision of the past, but rather appears as an aspect that allows them to critically deal with the difficult socioeconomic conditions they face in the city. Transnational memory is constructed as a collective place of enunciation to imagine a future where their living conditions are more fair and equal.
