    El Proyecto Intervención Comunitaria Intercultural (ICI) representa un elemento de innovación fundamental respecto a experiencias de intervención comunitaria. Fundamentalmente por desarrollarse al mismo tiempo en 17 realidades diferentes y con unos mismos planteamientos conceptuales y metodológicos; por fundir de manera crítica y osmótica la experiencia del trabajo comunitario con la experiencia de la mediación y del trabajo social con la inmigración, generalmente dirigido de manera exclusiva a la población inmigrante; por afrontar el desarrollo de las comunidades territoriales en un momento de crisis y de recorte sustancial del Estado social, situándose así en el contexto de la nueva realidad social y política; por afrontar la cuestión de la multiculturalidad y la interculturalidad que representa un reto permanente y estructural de nuestras comunidades «desarrolladas».

    Aun promovido y financiado por una entidad privada el Proyecto ICI se plantea objetivos de interés general y públicos y se manifiesta como un desarrollo de procesos participativos y compartidos entre tres «protagonistas»: administraciones, recursos profesionales y ciudadanía.

    The Intercultural Community Project (ICI) represents a key innovation element in the field of community-intervention experiences. This is basically because it has been implemented simultaneously in 17 different situations with the same conceptual and methodological approaches. The experience of working with the community and community development have been combined critically and osmotically with the experience of mediation and social work almost exclusively with the immigrant population. This population is having to deal with the development of territorial communities at a time of crisis and substantial cuts in the welfare state, placing it in the context of the new social and political reality. This reality has to deal with multi- and intercultural issues which represent a permanent structural challenge to our "developed" communities.

    Although promoted and financed by a private body, the objectives of the ICI Project are of both public and of general interest. It manifests itself as a development of participative processes shared by three "key" administrations, professional resources and citizenship.
