    Fantastic literature uses several formal and thematic resources to construct its plots. Among them, we can highlight the objects that, in fantastic narratives, are invested with power, action and life. The objective of this paper is to analyze the object as a motivation for the fantastic in Lygia Fagundes Telles, specifically in the short story “A Caçada”, published in the collection Antes do Baile Verde (2009). After showing the recurrence of the object in the construction of the fantastic in Telles, we present an analysis of the short story “A Caçada”, whose story revolves around the protagonist’s fixation on a tapestry displayed in the back of an antique shop. Through remembrance, the protagonist recognizes, in the hunting scene present in the tapestry, an experience lived in a distant past. At the end of the short story, the elements of the tapestry inexplicably enter the character’s reality, when he, fused with the prey, his double, is mortally wounded by the arrow shot by the hunter.

    A literatura fantástica utiliza diversos recursos formais e temáticos para a construção de seus enredos. Dentre eles, podemos destacar os objetos que, nas narrativas fantásticas, são investidos de poder, ação e vida. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o objeto como desencadeador do fantástico em Lygia Fagundes Telles, especificamente no conto “A caçada”, publicado na coletânea Antes do Baile Verde (2009). Após mostrar a recorrência do objeto na construção do fantástico em Telles, apresentamos uma análise do conto “A caçada”, cuja história gira em torno da fixação do protagonista por uma tapeçaria exposta nos fundos de uma loja de antiguidades. Através da rememoração, o protagonista reconhece, na cena da caçada presente na tapeçaria, uma experiência vivida em um passado longínquo. No final do conto, os elementos da tapeçaria adentram inexplicavelmente na realidade da personagem, quando este, fundido à caça, seu duplo, é ferido mortalmente com a flecha desferida pelo caçador.
