En este capítulo se analizan las disputas y conflictos más relevantes de la costa africana del mar Rojo y el golfo de Adén, que desdibujan la estabilidad en la región sembrándola de amenazas a la seguridad convirtiéndola en un polvorín.
Las rivalidades y enfrentamientos hunden sus raíces décadas atrás y de manera especial, se fundamentan en la lucha por un recurso tan esencial como es el agua.
El combustible que impide aplacar el fuego del conflicto en la región lo constituyen las distintas injerencias internacionales que sostienen de manera directa o más sutil las brasas nacionales y regionales a punto de prender.
La situación de la región es de alta volatilidad y las condiciones humanitarias en algunos casos son insostenibles.

This chapter analyzes the most relevant disputes and conflicts on the African coast of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which dim the stability in the region, sowing it with threats to security, and turning it into a tinderbox.
Rivalries and confrontations put down their roots decades ago and, in a special way, are based on the fight for such an essential resource as water.
The fuel that prevents quenching the fire of the conflict in the region is the various international interferences that directly, or more subtly, sustain the national and regional embers that are about to ignite.
The situation in the region is highly volatile and humanitarian conditions in some cases are unsustainable.
