    Abstract Through two fragments of clinical cases, we approach the use that the subject makes, when making use of the diversity of the names of the genres coming from the social Other, both to avoid sexual difference and to face the impasses of sexual difference. Clinical cases testify that, beyond the genres, there remains a real of jouissance in the field of the speaking being’s sexuality. From this real of jouissance, it becomes necessary to question the reasons why clinical manifestations, in our contemporary world, are at the service of jouissance, denouncing the rupture of ties with the Other.

    Resumo Por meio de dois fragmentos de casos clínicos, abordamos o uso que o sujeito faz, ao lançar mão da diversidade dos nomes dos gêneros advindos do Outro social, tanto para se esquivar da diferença sexual, quanto para enfrentar os impasses da diferença sexual. Os casos clínicos testemunham que, para além dos gêneros, resta um real de gozo no campo da sexualidade do ser falante. A partir desse real de gozo, torna-se necessário questionar os motivos pelos quais as manifestações clínicas, em nosso mundo contemporâneo, estão a serviço do gozo denunciando a ruptura de laços com o Outro.
