    La Asamblea General de la ONU reconoció en julio de 2022 “el derecho a un medio ambiente limpio, saludable y sostenible como un derecho humano”. Este reconocimiento es la culminación de un proceso de humanización del Derecho Internacional del Medio Ambiente, por un lado, y de un proceso de ambientalización del Derecho Internacional de los Derechos Humanos, por otro, en el seno ambos de las Naciones Unidas. El pronunciamiento de la Asamblea abre la puerta a nuevos desarrollos normativos e institucionales en los ámbitos universal, regional y estatal que deben garantizar el derecho al medio ambiente de todas las personas.

    The UN General Assembly recognized in July 2022 “the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment as a human right”. This recognition is the culmination of a process of humanization of International environmental law, on the one hand, and of a process of Greening of international human rights law, on the other, both within the United Nations. The Assembly’s pronouncement opens the door to new normative and institutional developments at the universal, regional and national levels that must guarantee the right to the environment for all human beings.
