El principal objetivo de este estudio es analizar el efecto que las infraestructuras productivas tienen sobre el crecimiento económico en Chile. Por este motivo, se estructuró un modelo para explicar el crecimiento económico donde las variables explicativas incluidas fueron stock de capital, trabajo y un índice de infraestructuras productivas. Este último se construyó con información de infraestructura física relacionada a dotaciones de transporte, comunicación y energía. Adicionalmente, usando una frontera estocástica de producción se analizaron las elasticidades de los factores productivos. Los resultados muestran como la infraestructura es un factor relevante para explicar el crecimiento económico chileno, con una ponderación superior a los factores trabajo y stock de capital. Para la región metropolitana, que concentra el 39% de la población chilena, se calculó la elasticidad para cada variable independiente donde para infraestructura, trabajo y stock de capital fue 0,5, 0,32 y 0,0001; respectivamente.

This paper studies the effect that productive infrastructures have on the economic growth in Chile. For this reason, a model was build to explain the economics growth where the independent variables included were capital, labor and an index of productive infrastructures. This index was constructed with information of physical infrastructure endowment related to transport, communication and energy. Additionally, using a stochastic production frontier, elasticity of productive factor was analyzed. The results show as the infrastructure is a representative factor explaining Chilean economic growth, with a larger share than labor and capital factors. For the metropolitan region, which concentrate 39% of Chilean population, was calculated the elasticity for each independent variables where for infrastructures, labor and capital were 0,5; 0,32 and 0,0001; respectively.
