    Regarded as one of the major modern theoreticians about feminism and active member of the French existentialistic movement, Simone de Beauvoir, on her works, presents a phenomenology of the condition and of the experiences of the women, revealed in interlocutions between Me and the Other, the sexuality and the corporeity, before of the deconstruction of the identity of the female subject, creating, thus, a feminist philosophy. Her main work is The Second Sex, composed by two volumes. The first one, Facts and Myths, seeks, through analysis of historical facts and myths, to find the origin of the female submission and to identify the basis that created and maintains the patriarchal society. On the second volume, Lived Experience, Beauvoir presents the difference in the education of boys and girls, on which she approaches her thesis: “one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman”; thus, the difference between men and women is a conception imposed by the society, and not a biologic fact. Therefore, the goal of this text is to consider the woman’s role in the society, as well as about gender inequality, under the perspective of Simone de Beauvoir, from her works. Pursuing to confirm the author’s thesis, other studies that show the current quality of Beauvoir’s thoughts will be presented yet in this text.

    Considerada uma das maiores teóricas modernas sobre o feminismo e integrante ativa do movimento existencialista francês, Simone de Beauvoir, em suas obras, apresenta uma fenomenologia da condição e das experiências das mulheres, reveladas em interlocuções entre o Eu e o Outro, a sexualidade e a corporeidade, diante da desconstrução da identidade do sujeito feminino, criando assim uma filosofia feminista. Sua principal obra é nomeada O Segundo Sexo, composta por dois volumes. O primeiro, Fatos e Mitos, busca, através de análise de fatos históricos e mitos, encontrar a origem da submissão feminina e identificar as bases que criaram e mantêm a sociedade patriarcal. No segundo volume, A Experiência Vivida, Beauvoir apresenta a diferença presente na educação de meninos e meninas, onde aborda sua tese: “ninguém nasce mulher, torna-se mulher”; desse modo, a diferença entre homens e mulheres é uma concepção imposta pela sociedade, e não um fator biológico. Assim, o objetivo deste texto é refletir sobre o papel da mulher na sociedade, bem como a desigualdade de gênero, sob a perspectiva de Simone de Beauvoir, a partir de suas obras. Buscando confirmar a tese da autora, serão apresentados ainda neste texto, outros estudos que mostram a atualidade dos pensamentos de Beauvoir.
