    Este estudio analiza las acusaciones que llevaron a la destitución del gobernador de Chile, Francisco de Meneses, en 1668. Dichas acusaciones se abordan bajo los conceptos de lesa majestad, tiranía y herejía, todos delitos de suma gravedad en aquella época. Para llevar a cabo el análisis, se definen y contextualizan dichos delitos para, posteriormente, aplicarlos a las acusaciones realizadas sobre el gobernador. Le otorgamos, además, un especial enfoque al comisario de la Inquisición, ya que manejamos la hipótesis de que las informaciones proveídas por este tendrían un peso considerable en la toma de decisión de la regente Mariana de Austria respecto a Meneses.

    This study analyses the accusations which lead to the destitution of the governor of Chile, Francisco de Meneses, in 1668. These accusations were made within the concepts of lèse-majesté, tyranny and heresy, all of them very serious crimes in that period. In order the carry outthe analysis, these crimes are defined and contextualized in order to later apply them to the accusations made against the governor. In addition, a special focus is given to the Inquisition commissioner, based on the hypothesis that the information provided by him was highly taken into account by the regent Mariana of Austria in her decision on Meneses.
