Resumen de Movilidad urbana en ciudades intermedias: Caso de estudio centralidad lineal, educativa y de servicios, manta, Ecuador

  La movilidad no se refiere únicamente al movimiento de personas, bienes e información, sino que también cumple un rol importante en la creación y redefinición de territorios. Esta investigación pretende cuestionar y reflexionar acerca de la idea de que el sistema de transporte colectivo sea el eje sobre el cual se sustenta la correcta planificación de una ciudad. El caso de Manta, una de las ciudades intermedias del Ecuador, ha visto proliferar nuevas centralidades que han modificado la distribución de su sistema de transporte colectivo. En consecuencia se han evidenciado brechas de accesibilidad en la movilidad urbana que afectan la calidad de vida de sus residentes. Para lograr los objetivos de la investigación, se emplea una metodología cualitativa mixta que en principio realiza un análisis documental del plan de movilidad de la ciudad, para luego obtener datos de origen y destino en las centralidades, y finalmente evaluar por medio de una ficha técnica el servicio que el transporte colectivo ofrece. La investigación logró evidenciar que el modelo urbano de Manta busca impulsar la accesibilidad a sus centralidades sin priorizar el transporte colectivo en el resto del territorio.

  Mobility does not only refer to the movement of people, goods and information, but also plays an important role in the creation and redefinition of territories. This research intends analyse the idea that the collective transportation system is the axis of what a correct planning should offer to the subjects that inhabit a city. The case of Manta, one of the intermediate cities of Ecuador, has seen the proliferation of new centralities that have modified the distribution of its public transportation system. As a result, accessibility gaps in urban mobility have become evident, affecting the quality of life of its residents. In order to achieve the research objectives, a mixed qualitative methodology is used, which first performs a documentary analysis of the city’s mobility plan, then obtains data on the origin and destination in the centralities, and finally evaluates the service offered by public transportation by means of a technical data sheet. The research was able to show that Manta’s urban model seeks to promote accessibility to its centralities without prioritizing public transportation in the rest of the territory.
