Violencia universitaria sin rastros: bullying y cyberbullying en el espacio universitario

    A nivel internacional la violencia escolar, conocida como bullying y cyberbullying, está siendo pensada y explorada por investigadores como una realidad en el espacio universitario, con consecuencias tan peligrosas como el abandono de los estudios y los intentos de suicidio por parte de las víctimas. ¿Es esta la realidad en Chile? Este artículo tiene como objetivo determinar el grado de reconocimiento que estas prácticas tienen en los espacios universitarios en el país y, posteriormente, analizar las posibles razones de ese reconocimiento, o falta de él. Para ello, se realizó una revisión de la normativa vigente o reglamentos universitarios de las universidades de la Región Metropolitana en Chile adscritas al beneficio de gratuidad que abordan dichas prácticas. Luego del análisis de la revisión de la normativa de universidades privadas y estatales, se puede concluir que, las normativas vigentes apelan a la buena o sana convivencia universitaria sin definir qué se entiende por esto. Estos reglamentos también hacen referencia a algunas prácticas asociadas al bullying, algunas de las cuales ya están normadas por el Código Penal Chileno; sin embargo, el cyberbullying no ha sido considerado en forma explícita y directa como una nueva forma de violencia.

    The international research community has started to view or consider school violence in the form of bullying and cyberbullying as part of the battery of forms of violence to which university students are exposed daily to negative consequences such as student dropout and suicide attempts. While these acts of violence do occur at other levels, they seem rather absent at the university level in Chile. The focus of this study is to establish to what extent such violent acts are included in the rules and policies that Chilean universities have for their students. A documental analysis of 15 university regulations in the Metropolitan Region in Chile was conducted. The results show that even though there is only one university that regulates bullying, and there are at least four others that refer indirectly to bullying or practices associated directly with bullying, cyberbullying is not considered a form of violence, but it appears to be a medium. The rest of the universities mention and regulate these practices but not as part of bullying or cyberbullying. It is quite interesting that all universities have violent practices that are regulated by the judicial system in their regulations.
