    La Ley Orgánica 1/2025 de medidas en materia de eficiencia del servicio público de justicia, sorpresivamente, y contra todo pronóstico, ha creado dos elementos diferentes a partir de los juzgados de paz: las Oficinas de Justicia en los Municipios y los jueces o juezas de paz. Mientras las primeras se configuran como unidades administrativas destinadas a ofrecer servicios de la Administración de justicia en los municipios, los segundos perviven, en nuestro ordenamiento jurídico, en el mismo ámbito territorial, sin órgano jurisdiccional, y con competencias similares a las que venían ejerciendo. El estudio analiza la evolución de los juzgados de paz, mostrando y explicando la sorpresa derivada de la opción del legislador, al tiempo que examina críticamente cada uno de los dos elementos y su relación, para intentar responder a una pregunta: ¿Es realmente la estructura que requiere un servicio público de justicia eficiente a nivel municipal?.

    1/2025 organic act on measures regarding the efficiency of the public justice service surprisingly, and against all odds, has created two different elements from the peace courts: the office of justice in the municipality and the justice of the peace. While the former are configured as administrative units destined to offer services of the Administration of Justice in the municipalities, the latter survive, in our legal system, in the same territorial area, without a jurisdictional body (or court), and with similar jurisdiction to the previous they had been exercising. Evolution of the peace courts is analyzed in the researching work, showing and explaining the surprise derived from the legislator's option, while critically are studied each of the two elements and their relationship. All in order to try to answer a question: Is it really the structure that requires an efficient public justice service at the municipal level?.
