This article, the result of the research, it is proposed, in a first moment, to show the ideological tensions present in the second half of the 20th century in the world and particularly in Colombia, where the creation of a peasant university is gestated as a way of the baroque ethos that faces, from the community formation, the diverse forms of violence in the territory. In a second moment, the assumed method is clarified as a hermeneutic reading from a quadruple historical ethos in contention. In a third moment, the different transitions through which this institution has gone through are presented. Among the findings, it is worth highlighting that the peasant university is the expression of the baroque community and peasant ethos, promoter of a solidarity economy and a grassroots political culture, capable of confronting and creating fissures to the giant realist ethos and its violence.1
