The implementation of Digital Twins (DT) in industrial settings presents both opportunitiesand challenges. While DTs are revolutionizing asset management and maintenance, their adop-tion is hindered by key obstacles, particularly the lack of standardization and interoperability.This document explores a reference architecture and a development model that emphasizesstandardization, ensuring seamless integration within commercial Cloud/IoT platforms. A casestudy focusing on power converters for renewable energy and electrical storage demonstratesthe benefits of DTs in predictive maintenance, efficiency optimization, and cost reduction. Thefindings highlight the importance of structured modeling, advanced analytics, and machinelearning integration, reinforcing the role of Digital Twins as a transformative tool for industry.
