El papel de las criadas en la narrativa de Concha Castroviejo: entre la ficción y el mundo evocado

    Este trabajo se adentra en la narrativa española de posguerra para rastrear la presencia del personaje de la criada en sus obras. Este rol no ha sido estudiado por la crítica canónica, que ha dado prioridad a las profesiones desempeñadas por hombres. La figura aflora en la novela masculina, pero es en la narrativa femenina donde tiene una presencia más destacada. En concreto, ocupa un lugar muy interesante en la prosa de Concha Castroviejo, autora representativa del momento, por ello el estudio se centrará en los textos de esta novelista y periodista gallega. Para entender las circunstancias sociolaborales de las mujeres que se ocupan del servicio doméstico se toma como referencia un artículo de la prensa del momento que aborda sus problemas. Pero el objetivo del estudio no es revisar el mundo laboral de las sirvientas, sino la imagen literaria que se proyecta de ellas en la obra de Castroviejo.

    This article dives into Spanish post-war literature to track the presence of the character of the maid in this period’s narrative. The role of the maid has not been studied by the literary canon, which has set its focus on those professions carried out by men. The figure is present in male-authored narrative, but it is in female literature where its presence gets more relevant. More specifically, it takes an interesting position within the narrative works of Concha Castroviejo, one of the main female authors of this period, and for this reason, our research focuses on the texts of this Galician author and journalist. A press article from 1953 allows the examination of the problems faced by these female workers, which serves as a way to understand the socio-occupational circumstances of women in domestic service. The aim of this article is not to research the occupational world of the maids, but their literary image in the work of Castroviejo.
