A fragment fossil jaw of a crocodilian from Ituzaingó Formation (Upper Miocene-Pliocene) from Entre Ríos, Argentina is described and compared with specimens of living species of genus Caiman and MACN 5475, holotype of Caiman lutescens (Rovereto, 1912). We conclude that C. lutescens is a valid species, closer to C. yacare than C. latirostris.
