    A l’any 2013 l’Agència Menorca Reserva de Biosfera engegà un projecte encaminat a contribuir al coneixement del patrimoni geològic menorquí entre la societat local, incidint en les seves possibilitats d’aprofitament públic i sostenible per a la ciència, l'ensenyament, el turisme i la divulgació científica. Les actuacions realitzades fins al moment han rebut una important acceptació per part de la societat local, aconseguint un creixent interès sobre el valor de la geodiversitat insular i la seva necessitat de protecció, fins al moment desconeguda en molts casos. Per assolir aquesta fita a Menorca, s’ha treballat en combinar un programa d’actuacions encaminades a apropar i difondre els valors geològics de l’illa entre la societat, conjuntament amb l’elaboració d’un inventari de Llocs d’Interès Geològic (LIG), sabedors que per gestionar i protegir amb èxit un recurs és imprescindible conèixer la seva ubicació, les seves característiques i la seva rellevància.

    In 2013 the Biosphere Reserve of Menorca Agency launched a project aimed to contributing to the knowledge of the Minorcan geological heritage by the local society, focusing on its possibilities for public and sustainable use of science, education, tourism and scientific spreading. The actions carried out so far have received an important acceptance by the local society, achieving a growing interest in the value of insular geodiversity and its necessity of protection, unknown in many cases. To achieve this milestone in Menorca, we have worked to combine a program of actions aimed to bringing and disseminating the geological values of the island by the local society, together with the development of an inventory of Sites of Geological Interest, knowing that to successfully manage and protect a resource it is essential to know its location, its characteristics and its relevance
