Resumen de Determinació de l’edat i taxes de creixement corporal a la serp blanca (Zamenis scalaris) en una població insular

  L'arribada d'una espècie invasora en un ecosistema insular suposa un impacte ecològic de gran envergadura. En el cas de Formentera, la introducció de la serp blanca (Zamenis scalaris) no ha estat diferent. El present estudi s’ha posat a punt la tècnica de l’osteocronologia per a determinar la edat dels exemplars capturats en les campanyes de control de l’espècie dutes a terme pel Govern de les Illes Balears. A partir del comptatge dels anells de creixement de l'os ectopterigi s'ha pogut determinar l'edat de 129 exemplars. En relació a les longituds corporals no es van observar diferències significatives entre mascles i femelles tant en grandària SVL com en edat. Per altra banda, la relació longitud x edat no es va ajustar de forma clara a la corba de Von Bertalanffy, mostrant un ampli rang de longituds per a una mateixa edat.

  The arrival of an invasive species in an insular ecosystem implies a large ecological impact. In the case of Formentera, the introduction of the ladder snake (Zamenis scalaris) has not been different. The present study we tune up the osteocronology technique for determining the age of the captured individuals during the control campaings of the species carried out by the Government of the Balearic Islands. Based on the counting of the ectopterygium bone growth rings, it was determined the age of 129 specimens. In relation to body lengths, there were no significant differences between males and females in both SVL size and age. On the other hand, the correlation between length and age was not clearly adjusted to the Von Bertalanffy curve, showing a wide range of lengths for the same age.
