Resumen de Programa de seguimiento científico de l’Estació d’Investigació “Jaume Ferrer”: La pesca artesanal en Menorca

  Desde 2013, l`Estació d’Investigació “Jaume Ferrer” lleva a cabo el seguimiento de las pesquerías artesanales que se desarrollan en Menorca. Para ello, se realizan embarques periódicos durante todo el año en los barcos de pesca artesanal de las tres cofradías de la isla: Maó, Ciutadella y Fornells. La finalidad de estos muestreos es evaluar la composición específica, el rendimiento y la estructura demográfica de las diferentes especies objetivo, así como estimar tanto las capturas de interés comercial como los descartes de los distintos artes y aparejos utilizados, para poder determinar el impacto que la actividad pesquera artesanal tiene sobre los recursos explotables de Menorca. Este seguimiento se caracteriza por una marcada rotación estacional, tanto en los artes utilizados como en las especies explotadas. Entre los principales artes de pesca, a lo largo del año se alterna el uso del trasmallo y redes de enmalle de un solo paño o betas, siendo las principales especies objetivo la langosta roja, el salmonete de roca, la sepia, el cabracho, la chopa, la dorada, la seriola y las rayas. Por otro lado, el palangre de fondo se suele utilizar a lo largo de todo el año, con el mero, el dentón y el pargo como principales especies objetivo.

  Since 2013, “Jaume Ferrer” Research Station provides monitoring of the artisanal fisheries conducted in Menorca. For that purpose, periodic boarding is made throughout the year in the artisanal fishing boats of the three Fishermen's Associations of the island: Maó, Ciutadella and Fornells. The aim of these samplings is to evaluate the specific composition, yield and demographic structure of the different target species, as well as to estimate both the catches of commercial interest and the discards of the different gears used, in order to determine the impact that the artisanal fishing activity has on the exploitable resources of Menorca. This monitoring is characterized by a marked seasonal rotation, both in the arts used and in the species exploited. Among the main fishing gears, the use of trammel nets and gill nets is alternated throughout the year, with the main target species being red spiny lobster, red mullet, cuttlefish, scorpion fish, black seabream, gilthead, amberjack and skates. On the other hand, bottom longline is usually used throughout the year, with grouper, dentex and red porgy as the main target species.
