Resumen de Coneixement de la distribució dels recursos pesquers a la zona de Tagomago: importància del coneixement pesquer tradicional

  El coneixement tradicional del sector pesquer de la distribució dels recursos junt amb el coneixement científic son una combinació molt eficient a l’hora de delimitar zones de elevat interès pesquer, i en aquest cas, ens proposar la creació d’àrees marines protegides. En el cas de Tagomago i els seus voltant s’ha realitzat aquest procés identificant-se les zones de major interès ecològic per les espècie d’interès pesquer. La implicació del sector pesquer en el procés d’adquisició d’informació, la gestió d’aquesta mitjançant feedback per part dels científics o tècnics han sigut de gran ajuda. A la mateixa vegada que la seva participació en la governança, cogestió o comitès de seguiment són formes de augmentar la seva implicació en un bon funcionament tant de la definició de àrees marines protegides com del seu funcionament.

  The combination of Fishers Traditional Ecological Knowledge and the scientific knowledge, makes it an efficient way when it comes to identifying areas of high fishing interest to propose zones to establish Marine Protected Areas. In this case, we have used both types of knowledge in the proposal of Tagomago MPA, identifying zones of high ecological interest for targeted fish species. The involvement of the fishing sector in the acquisition of information process, the combination of this information taking into account the feedback from scientists and managers, their involvement in the governance of the MPA, and co-management or monitoring comities, are tools to engage the fishing sector both in the proposal and management of the MPA’s.
