  • The sea has been recognized throughout history as a dangerous, threatening, and untameable element, to be treated with caution and reverence, and placated through divine favour with prayers and offerings. Those on land are not immune to dangers from the sea, the most dramatic of which must be the world-reversing and terrifying tsunami.
