    Due to several autonomous decrees that have institutionalised the CompostelaHoly Year since 1991, the Way of St James has recently become a social phenomenon ofgreat signifi cance in Galicia and abroad. This paper examines the impact of the Way onPortuguese publishing in the 21st century. Not only has Portugal strong historical and cultural ties with Galicia, but there has also been an increased interest in the promotion of theWay in this country (as evidenced by the Decree-law 51/2019 on “regulating the valorisation and promotion of the Way of St James through the certifi cation of its itineraries”). Ouranalysis is based on the corpus available in the Bibliographic Database of Cultural Productsabout the Way of St James (1991–2023) (Base de Dados Bibliográfi ca de Produtos Culturaissobre os Caminhos de Santiago [1991–2023]; http://caminhosdesantiago.net/), from which weextracted works published in Portugal between 1993 and 2021, i.e. one of the CompostelaHoly Years and the high point of the promotion of the Way of St James. We analysed themin terms of chronology, authorship, publishers and textual typologies. Based on the resultsof our research—which include fi ndings about the scarce number of renowned authors, thedegree to which the Portuguese Way is present in these works, and the direct connectionbetween the tourist interests and the type of works published by a given publisher—we showthe slow (but existing) consolidation of the Way in the Portuguese editorial industry in the21st century. We also prove that the Holy Years have contributed to the normalisation ofthis topic and describe how diff erent textual genres have developed so far, placing a specialemphasis on the narrative subgenres, as they show more clearly the imagery of the city ofCompostela (and, by extension, Galicia) that is being disseminated. Finally, we also point outthe possible impact that the culture of the Way of St James may have on another pilgrimageroute—to the Shrine of Fatima. All of this enables us to trace the evolution and the panorama of Portuguese literature with a Jacobean theme in the fi rst decades of the 21st century.

    Nas últimas décadas, a raiz dos vários decretos autonómicos a institucionalizarem o Jacobeu desde o ano 1991, o Caminho de Santiago converteu-se num fenómenosocial de grande impacto dentro e fora da Galiza. O objetivo deste trabalho é examinarmosa pegada do Caminho na produção editorial portuguesa do século XXI posto que, ademaisde Portugal ser uma comunidade com fortes vínculos históricos e culturais com a Galiza,também é possível verifi car aí o incremento do interesse pela promoção do Caminho (evidenciada no decreto-lei 51/2019 que “Regula a valorização e promoção do Caminho de Santiago,através da certifi cação dos seus itinerários”). A nossa análise é feita a partir do corpus disponível na Base de Dados Bibliográfi ca de Produtos Culturais sobre os Caminhos de Santiago(1991-2023) (http://caminhosdesantiago.net/), de onde retiramos muitas das referênciascorrespondentes a Portugal e analisamos (com base na cronologia, autorias, editoras e tipologias textuais) a produção compreendida entre 1993 e 2021, ambos Anos Santos e pontosculminantes da promoção do Caminho. O escasso número de autorias consagradas, o grauem que o caminho português está presente nas obras ou a relação direta existente entre osinteresses turísticos e o tipo de obras conforme à editora são algumas conclusões extraídasdesta abordagem, a evidenciarem a lenta (mas existente) consolidação que teve o Caminhono campo editorial português no século XXI. Neste sentido, também comprovamos o efeitoque os Anos Santos tiveram na normalização desta temática e apresentamos o desenvolvimento que até a data experimentaram os diferentes géneros textuais, fazendo especial fi nca-pénos subgéneros narrativos, pois mostram de maneira mais clara os imagotipos que se estãoa transmitir sobre a cidade de Compostela (e, por extensão, a Galiza). Finalmente, tambémapontamos possíveis impactos que a cultura do Caminho pode estar a ter na peregrinaçãoao Santuário de Fátima. Deste modo, conseguimos traçar a evolução e o panorama geral daliteratura portuguesa de temática jacobeia nas primeiras décadas do século XXI.
