  • Resumen
    • Community-Based Tourism has been remarked as a cogent development strategy of transforming local economies, empowering communities, preserving sociocultural dignity and ecological resources across the globe. Yet, an astonishing question exists, is it a true game-changer for indigenous communities? This systematic literature review aims at assessing the studies absorbed on community based tourism businesses and sustainable livelihood practices published in the selected journals within a specified period. The review meticulously analyzes 32 quality assessed research papers using the PRISMA framework. The objective is to gain a deeper understanding on what are the key factors that influence the effectiveness of community-based tourism businesses in promoting sustainable livelihoods, particularly in terms of research themes, disciplinary perspectives, and methodologies. The findings reveal a significant increase in research related to community based tourism businesses and sustainable livelihood practices, particularly in rural homestays, agro tourism, and social tourism models. In addition, the review uncovers critical research gaps, especially regarding long-term sustainability. Furthermore, the review identifies a compelling direction for future research and serves as an important guide for advancing resilient and inclusive tourism models, mapping emerging trends and shaping the future of sustainable tourism practices around the similar global context.
